There’s a six-speed gearbox, so you’ll always have the right gear to keep the fuel-injected 249cc engine in its sweet spot, and the machine comes with Suzuki’s excellent Easy Start System – just thumb the starter once and let the bike do the rest. The compact 249cc, single-cylinder engine incorporates Suzuki’s oil cooling system, designed to provide high output, durability and ease of maintenance alongside frugal fuel economy.

The lithe posture helps riders to firmly put their feet down with confidence, helped by the low 800mm seat height.

The suspension – a 41mm front fork joined by a monoshock on the rear – also provides the best of both worlds: it smooths out road perfections with absolute ease but provides brilliant feedback and damping properties when the riding tempo rises. The machine has stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, and there’s anti-lock braking on both the front and rear. The front brake calliper grips a massive 300mm front disc, so there’s performance peace of mind before the GIXXER SF even turns a wheel. The styling cuts a contemporary European-inspired look, with inspiration from the catalogue of past iconic Suzuki sportsbikes and sports-tourers.
