Triumph Motorcycles is kicking off its 110th anniversary celebration with the launch of a special edition Bonneville T100. Inspired by the classic 1902 No.1 model, the limited edition bike sports a unique anniversary crest, directly inspired by the early Triumph tank badges. The nostalgic appeal of this series of T100s is further enhanced by a retro-inspired twin colour paint scheme of Brooklands Green and Aluminium Silver, complimented by black mudguards as per the original bike.

While the Brooklands Green paint scheme commemorates Triumph’s first ever motorcycle race win at the famous Surrey-based circuit in 1908, the Aluminium Silver scheme echoes the style of the pioneering pre-war years. The eye catching tank crest has been changed from the original King’s motif to pay tribute to our own Queen in her Jubilee year of 2012. The addition of three dots over the original crest design have been added to represent the historic locations of Triumph factories over the last 110 years; Coventry, Meriden and Hinckley.

The limited edition Bonneville – only 1,000 units are being manufactured – is tastefully finished with chrome touches, such as the grab rail, chain guard and cam cover, to provide an additional element of classic presence. Every 110th Anniversary Special Edition Bonneville T100 comes with a numbered plaque on the dog-bone style handlebar clamp and to underscore the authenticity of the machine, every model comes with its own numbered certificate.

‘Mal Jarrett’ marketing manager for Triumph Australia, said: “We’re delighted to be launching our 110th anniversary year with this iconic limited edition production run. The ‘Bonnie’ is synonymous with the heritage of the Triumph brand and the perfect canvas for a special edition model. While we’re pushing forward the boundaries of technology with innovation such as the ride-by-wire system on the new Tiger Explorer, it’s still important to recognize where we’ve come from and this 110th edition T100 does just that.”

Triumph’s last special edition classic bike – the Steve McQueen which saw only 1,100 produced in early 2012 – sold out in a matter of weeks, so riders interested in a Bonneville T100 are being advised to reserve their bike early. The 110th Anniversary Special Edition Bonneville T100s are expected to be in dealers from May 2012.

Triumph pulled the veil on their brand spankin’ new 2012 models at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. They revealed the Tiger Explorer, a strong and faithful new addition to the adventure touring range and the 2012 Speed Triple R, ferocious as always. The Limited Edition Steve McQueen was also revealed, with Triumph only planning to build 1,100 models.

The tough as guts Tiger Explorer is a brand new edition to Triumphs Adventure Touring range, built entirely with reliability in mind which should see you doing 16,000 kilometers between each service. Triumph outfitted the Tiger with a brand-spankin’ new three-cylinder engine which produces 137PS with 121Nm of torque; you may find yourself giving steep hills the middle finger. It has an LCD screen, operated by thumb switches on the handlebars, which can be used to display things like the ambient air temperature – it even comes with an ice warning; just incase you can’t feel the nip. Triumph has a reputation for making bikes that handle well, and the Tiger is no exception, with a smooth, even ride on unpaved roads. It even comes in black!

Then again, touring isn’t for everyone. The 2012 Speed Triple R has gone under the knife with refurbishments from the biggest and best names in the performance industry, brace yourselves for name drops; Brembo Brakes, Ohlins suspension, Pirelli Supercosa rubber and more. The Speed Triple R is all about performance, with a 3 cylinder 1050cc engine and a redesigned gearbox for more refined shifting. As always, the Speed Triple R’s naked, bare bones look is kept to give this bike a very mean feel, while retaining sleek aerodynamics.

Triumph has gone Hollywood with the release of the Limited Edition Steve McQueen. Based on the classic Bonneville T100, the Steve McQueen is a true homage to “The King of Cool,” inspired by the iconic Triumph Trophy TR6 that was so famously ridden by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. This bike just oozes cultural history. Only 1,100 Steve McQueen’s will be made, with each bike produced being individually numbered with a plaque placed on the handlebars and an authenticity certificate given to each buyer for bragging rights.
