--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Triumph Tiger 1050 wins Massive multi-purpose comparo. Triumph’s all-new Tiger 1050 has won a comparison test against its direct competitors in the April issue of giant German motorcycle magazine, Motorrad. The triple bested the BMW R1200 GS, Honda Varadero, KTM 990 Adventure and Suzuki V-Strom in the wide-ranging evaluation, which saw all the machines rated on their engine, chassis, “everyday use” and braking capabilities. The stunning result for the Tiger 1050 marked the first time that the BMW GS had not won a back-to-back test against its multi-purpose brethren. Among its catalogue of positive comments, the Motorrad team concluded that the Tiger 1050 has the “best engine by far: perfect throttle response, torquey, spontaneous and powerful…” In performance testing, the Tiger 1050 steamrolled through all the acceleration tests, and also was a class above the opposition in roll-on comparisons. The Triumph was also lauded for its seat, radial brakes, riding position/ergonomics, rider feedback, tyres, its huge price advantage over the BMW GS, and being the best piece of hardware for twisty roads. Although fitted with road-based rubber, Motorrad said that the Tiger 1050 also makes for a viable off-road option with its “smooth engine, perfect throttle control and good front forks”. At $15,990 (plus ORC), the Tiger 1050 is available in four colours: fusion white, caspian blue, jet black and scorched yellow.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A New Champion has Arrived The all new Championship winning 2007 Honda CBR600RR, completely redesigned from stem to stern, is now available our Peter Stevens Stores in Melbourne, Adelaide and Geelong. For 2007 the 600 comes in the CBR1000RR Fireblade inspired Italian Red with Graphite Black or Graphite Black paint schemes, and features the most radical redesign since its introduction four years ago. Additional features include a new stainless steel four-into-one exhaust that also features an inline-exhaust valve to control exhaust pressure for maximum performance. A new intake-air control valve (IACV) minimizes torque reaction and smoothes response to small throttle changes through gradual reductions of air and fuel intake when the throttle is opened and closed. Recommended retail price for the 2007 CBR600RR remains unchanged from the previous year model, and is once again ahead of the competition at $15,290 plus on road costs.
